The doctor Sebastian Ugarte, one of the country’s most beloved doctors, represented health officials in the campaign overture Let’s go Chileans, which honored the essential workers of the pandemic.
The head of the Critical Patients Unit of the Indisa Clinic took the stage while Bafochi and other artists performed in their honor.
Later, Ugarte was moved to tears upon receiving a gift from Alejandra Silva, the mother of a child with cancer who lives in Macul and who also runs a soup kitchen to help those in need.
Silva and a group of local weavers who wanted to create the largest flag in Chile also made a significant gift for the doctor.
“Thinking about the pandemic, we, along with all the weavers, wanted to deliver the first blanket to a hero, to a person who represents us all, to the doctor from Chile, the most loved doctor in Chile, Dr. Sebastián Ugarte” Silva assured.
For his part, the doctor was moved to hear her. “I can not articulate words. I receive this present, this blanket, on behalf of thousands and thousands of health workers, who have put their chest to bullets and who have been at the forefront to stop this pandemic“Said the doctor.
