More than 20 thousand vehicles have left the Metropolitan region in this long weekend | National

This Thursday, various sanitary cords began to operate to control displacement on the occasion of the long weekend of National Holidays.

In the Curacaví Highway Tenure, it was reported that 20 thousand vehicles have moved to Valparaíso. According to projections of the authority, 210 thousand vehicles could leave the capital during this week.

The sanitary cords are installed in the Valparaíso, Metropolitana, Bío Bío and La Araucanía regions within the framework of the “Fondéate en tu casa” program.

During the day, transport authorities carried out inspections on the roads to control that people have the health passport and the document that justifies the trip.

In the Metropolitan region, five health checkpoints were installed: in the Cuaraví Tenancy, on Route 68; at the Agosturas toll, on route 5 south; at the height of Lampa, on Route 5 North; in El Paico, on Route 78; and in Colina, on the Los Libertadores Highway.

Paola Flores, head of the Department of Inspections of the Ministry of Transport, recalled that transfers between regions are prohibited and called on people to arrive at least an hour before at the terminals to board the bus.

The captain of the Carabineros, Joaquín Nazar, pointed out that there is still a high number of vehicles in the transfer between regions.

On the other hand, it was indicated that mobility in the Metropolitan region for these dates was reduced by 50%.

In the hours of tonight, Mayor Felipe Guevara flew over the city by helicopter to observe the vehicular movement.

Valparaíso region

According to Radio Bío Bío in Valparaíso, there are more than 3,000 vehicles that have entered the region through Route 68 at the height of the Peñuelas sector.

During the afternoon there was a great traffic congestion, but the control was carried out expeditiously, as explained by drivers.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jorge Martínez pointed out that “we have sent back 11 thousand vehicles with their occupants. We have sanctioned more than 500 homes with occupants who should not be. More than 1,700 people have been arrested for having permits that did not have the original meaning ”.
