The national golfer Joaquin Niemann had an outstanding performance this Thursday at the start of US Open, first Major of the season in the PGA tour, by finishing in the top 10 of the tournament leaderboard in New York.
The native of Talagante delivered a card of 68 goals, two under par (-2), occupying the place T7, with a record of four birdies on holes 3, 7, 10 and 13, and two bogeys, on flags 9 and 12.
For his part, the former world number one, Tiger Woods, winner of the US Open in 2000, 2002 and 2008, had an unusual round, with a card of 73 hits (+3), after having achieved five birdies, but committing six bogeys and a double bogey on the 18th hole. He came in at T69.
Pointer is the American Justin thomas, with a record of 65 strokes, followed by his compatriot Patrick Reed (-4) and the Belgian Thomas pieters (-4).
This Friday, Niemann’s shift will start at 08:34 hours (11:34 GMT), with the aim of overcoming the cut in the major.
