In an interview with The Mercury, the Minister of Education, Raúl FigueroaHe specified that in contagion-free communes, supporters are authorized to request openings.

“In those that are in step 4 (initial opening), the Ministry of Health has determined that they are authorized to open their establishments. The communes that are in step 3 (preparation) require a specific authorization from Health”said Figueroa.

He further explained that “in all cases the health protocols must be implemented and follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Education based on three pillars: safe, voluntary and gradual.”

The schools located in contagion-free areas group 46,676 students, of which 71% correspond to rural areas.
