Catholic University, with a high level of play in San Carlos de Apoquindo, sscored his first three points in the Libertadores Cup, after getting a 2-0 win against Gremio de Porto Alegre on date 3 of Group E in the continental tournament.
Despite the result, the band continues at the bottom in their group, although they are on the right foot for the second round of the group phase and everything will have to be played next week when they visit América de Cali, a direct rival in the fight to go to the second round final.
UC was patient and hit before break
The first measures were of analysis, with a Guild that did not press, but was strategically located so as not to let the fringed advance, who took control of possession. Ariel Holan’s team was not impatient and waited for spaces to be generated, for also thus not be badly stopped before the possible counterattacks of those of Porto Alegre.
UC fully capitalized on all the arrivals it had: A powerful shot from Fuenzalida was deflected by the goalkeeper and hit the post; and in the next play, César Pinares put in a closed center that almost slipped into the goal.
Coming to the epilogue of the first half, Fernando Zampedri missed a heads up with Vanderlei, but he had an immediate chance to re-divide himself, when scoring with a left foot the 1-0 (44 ‘).

The action disrupted the concentration of the gauchos, who were overwhelmed. UC took advantage of the error and scored the 2-0, with an exquisite pass from Aued and better definition of César Pinares, who took the goalkeeper out with a hat and finished with his head in front of the empty goal (45 + 1 ‘).

Los Cruzados failed to kill the process with an elusive third goal
For the complement, Guild came out with another arrangement, seeking to cut distances. This allowed Catholic to have spaces and will arrive on several occasions, thanks to the climbs of Fuenzalida and Edson Puch.
Aued also tried on goal and Zampedri tried to sign his double, but goalkeeper Vanderlei was a figure, canceling the Argentine striker for the third time that night.
In the final minutes Gremio suffered a hard loss, due to the expulsion with a direct red of David Braz, who will miss the Porto Alegre classic against Inter next week, on Wednesday, September 23.
The next challenge for UC will be on that same day, in another momentous commitment, when it visits America de Cali in Colombia, at 9:30 p.m. (00:30 GMT).
