Violence in La Araucanía: to prison accused of robbery and fire in Collipulli

The Collipulli Guarantee Court left Miguel Ángel Torres Toro in preventive detention, charged by the Public Ministry as the perpetrator of the consummated crimes of robbery with violence, fire, interruption of the free movement of vehicles, attack against the authority and illegal possession of ammunition, illicit perpetrated last July and August in that commune of La Araucanía.

At the formalization hearing, Judge María Fernanda Lagos ordered the defendant’s admission to the Angol Preventive Detention Center, considering that his freedom constitutes a danger to the safety of society and the victims. In addition, it set the period of investigation at 75 days.

According to the persecuting entity, at around 7:30 p.m. on July 10, 2020, Torres, together with a group of individuals, went to plot number 3 of the La Suerte sector, located in the San Andrés sector of the Collipulli commune, where it has domicile of the victim POCJ, who was accompanied by JNAR and ADSA

Upon arriving at the scene, the group entered carrying firearms and wearing dark clothes of military design, intimidating the victims who demanded the delivery of weapons. One of the subjects also hit POCJ with a forceful element and threatened ADSA

The group left the scene taking a revolver, a 16-gauge shotgun, fifty 12-gauge and 16-gauge shotgun shells, $ 200,000 in cash, two cell phones, two chainsaws, a motor pump, an electric saw and a cookie maker, among other species, which they loaded into the van owned by the victim, who was forced to get into the vehicle.

Meanwhile, in the morning of August 4, the defendant would have participated in an unauthorized march, destroying private property in the center of Collipulli, where he set fire to a building with an accelerating liquid. Before leaving the home of one of the victims, the defendant again threw accelerating liquid.

When a police car arrived, the accused threw two glass bottles at one of the Carabineros officials before fleeing the scene.

Yesterday, PDI personnel entered the defendant’s home, located in the Antinao community, Pidima sector of the Ercilla commune, where they proceeded to arrest and seize five 12-gauge shotgun shells, in addition to the stolen electric saw and cookie cutter.
