Huachipato’s coach, Gustavo Florentín, harshly criticized referee Julio Báscuñán after his role in the 3-2 loss of the Acereros to Santiago Wanderers at Elías Figueroa de Valparaíso.

The defeat against the Caturros did not sit well with the Steelers strategist, since according to his perception, the result was conditioned for the charges of the match judge.

At a post-match press conference, Florentín did not save anything and fired his darts against the controversial arbitration of Julio Bascuñán:

“The referee (Julio Bascuñán) influenced the result and I told him so in the game. There was a play in the first half where he erred in the charges and the VAR did not help much either, and it is assumed that he is to back down in debatable plays” commented the steel strategist.

The great controversy of the game came when they ran 79 minutes of play and the referee went to the VAR and charged a penalty for the visit after a hand from Bernardo Cerezo, after the ball bounced off his thigh and then into his hand. Juan Sánchez Sotelo thus marked the 3-2 for the Caturros.

Huachipato’s DT believes that Julio Bascuñán’s charges favored the Caturros.

“It is quite worrying that the referees are making mistakes against us. It is not the first time, Bascuñán’s refereeing today was very bad, it was terrible”Florentín assured once the game was over.

With this result, Huachipato stayed with 14 points in ninth place in the table, while Santiago Wanderers reaped three units that allow him to be in 11th place in the Chilean tournament with 13 points.
