A new stage in his stage is living the journalist Andres Caniulef after finishing his rehab for his drug addiction.
The communicator was interned for a year in the Crea Chile clinic, from where he officially graduated on August 21 in a ceremony performed by Zoom, which was witnessed by his family.
Although Caniulef finished his rehabilitation in April, he stayed at the center given the pandemic situation. There they offered him some administrative tasks, how to answer calls from people who want to enter.
“I was in the dilemma of going back to my parents’ house without any job options when the director suggested that I stay. He told me that it was a period of great uncertainty and global stress and that I would feel more protected, ”he explained to Las Últimas Noticias.
“The first steps of any person who is rehabilitated are always more doubtful”
– Andrés Caniulef
The quarantine was quite harsh for the journalist since the clinic closed for six months to comply with safety regulations, so he could not visit his 75-year-old parents who caught coronavirus.
“It was hard. My parents caught COVID-19 in July. My mother had mild, but my father was complicated and was hospitalized for 10 days at the Hospital de la Fach. At the entrance they contained me well and my sisters informed me of their condition. It was an important moment of family closeness. Now I can say that I remember it with gratitude, “he added.
According to Andrés, today he is much better and sees life in a simpler way, he even assured that “I took a weight off my shoulders, like what they will say and the pressure of economic consumerism.”
He also stated that it does not complicate him having to knock on doors to ask for a job and that “I do not aspire to win or have the same prominence as before, because having a job is enough for me.”
Although you can leave the center today, your treatment will continue for another five years and will require regular visits to the site.
“I hope that when I am outside, I continue to remember that I had a bad time and not fall again. I can never drink alcohol again in my life, because its consumption calls for drug use ”, he assured, although he acknowledged that “I feel pretty strong.”
