The Department of Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health estimated this Saturday at 16,165 people have died, between confirmed and probable cases, by Covid-19 in Chile since March, when the pandemic arrived in the country.
According to the 13th Weekly Report of Deaths, As of Thursday, September 10, 11,895 deaths were registered with a confirmed PCR test, 344 more deaths than those reported a week ago.
The probable deceased -waiting for confirmation or discard of the contagion by Covid-19-, meanwhile, they stand at 4,327.
According to Epidemiological Report number 50, adding confirmed and probable deaths, the The Metropolitan Region remains the one with the highest adjusted mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants, of 96.4. It is followed by that of Antofagasta (83.6) and Tarapacá (59.1).
The regions with the lowest rate are Aysén (3.5) and Los Ríos (4.8), followed by Los Lagos (10.6), Ñuble (12.6) and La Araucanía (12.7).
The national rate, meanwhile, stands at 52.2, considering confirmed and probable deaths by Covid-19.
MORE THAN 54 THOUSAND PROBABLE CASES OF CONTAGES
According to the DEIS report, until September 10 there have been accumulated 485,277 cases of coronavirus (430,535 with laboratory confirmation and 54,742 probable, without laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 2,493.9 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The highest cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in the Metropolitan Region (3,837.1), the Tarapacá Region (3,178.4) and the Arica and Parinacota Region (2,984.4).
