He Minister of the Interior and Security, Víctor Pérez, explained that the expansion of State of Exception for 90 more days decreed this Friday by the Government, is due solely to health reasons.

“The decision of the President of the Republic to extend the State of Exception for 90 days, has absolutely sanitary reasons“, said the Secretary of State.

In that sense, and as the Plebiscite of October 25 would be subject to this measure, the Minister of the Interior declared that “Our health regulations allow us to take very focused and localized measures with respect to people who have to be individualized, therefore, the quarantine rules and a series of other sanitary provisions could not be taken without the state of exception “.

According to Pérez, although Chile has “adequately controlled the pandemic (…) no one can guarantee that we will not have outbreaks”Therefore, “for that, very drastic measures must be taken to restrict the mobility of people, and that can only be taken in a State of Exception, therefore, the fundamental reason is health.”
