New Covid-19 infections once again exceed two thousand in the last day and Magallanes reports a record number of daily cases

As announced this morning by the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, the cases of Covid-19 reported in the last day rose again in relation to the previous days. This Saturday, lcontagions nationwide exceeded two thousand -after five days under this figure- and a record of PCR tests was reported.

According to the balance of the Minsal, they are 2,135 new confirmed cases and 1,407 of them are symptomatic, 667 asymptomatic and 61 that have not yet been notified.

With this report, the accumulated total of infections nationwide, it amounted to 432,666 and 15,852 of them remain active.

On the other hand, the document reported 45 deaths – according to data from the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS) -, bringing the total to 11,895 deaths from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.

Regarding the Health network, there are 908 people hospitalized in intensive care units, 124 of them in critical condition and 672 connected to mechanical ventilation.

There were 38,062 PCR tests that were performed in the last 24 hours and, with it, the daily positivity rate reached 5.61%.

While announcing a strengthening of sanitary measures audits for the National Holidays, Undersecretary Daza indicated that the Magallanes and Biobío regions continued to worry the authorities because of their figures.

Today, for example, the extreme southern region of the country registered a record number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic: 262 new infections.

It should be noted, however, that the seremi de Salud (s) de Magallanes, Eduardo Castillo, confirmed that there was a problem in the servers of the laboratory of the University of Magallanes. This failure caused a drop in daily cases reported in the region in the week.
