The Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem (3rd ATP) achieved this Friday a solid victory in three sets over the Russian Daniil Medvedev (5th) to reach in the US Open 2020, his fourth Grand Slam final.
The ward of Nicolas Massú had a great first set and then managed to resist in the following rounds a Medvedev fighter who won a tough match that lasted two hours and 53 minutes for 6-2, 7-6 (7) and 7-6 (5).
The Austrian thus reached his fourth final of a major tournament and will be seeking a title in this category for the first time. Before he lost two Ronald Garros finals (2018 and 2019) and this year he gave up the crown in Australia.
Thiem’s rival in the fight for the title will be a debutant in these instances, the German Alexander Zverev (7th) who beat in a great game Pablo Carreño Busta (27 °).
