A 14-year-old teenager was hospitalized on Friday night after being hit in the face by a tear gas canister during the incidents that were recorded in Villa France, in the commune of Estación Central.

The fact was first denounced by residents of the sector and also on social networks, before which Carabineros came out to issue a clarification.

According to the police, who confirmed the situation, it was a tear gas that bounced off a fence and accidentally hit him, “version delivered by the injured person in the medical center according to medical certificate”.

According to preliminary information, injuries affecting the minor to the jaw would not be serious.

It was transferred to San Borja Hospital, from where he was referred to another healthcare facility to be diagnosed with the dental emergency. After that it will be returned to said hospital.

Personnel from the Prefecture of Public Order Control worked to disperse protesters in the vicinity of October 7 to April 5, using water launcher car and gas launcher car, in the midst of incidents that began with greater force around 8:00 p.m.

In the course of the events, the same police denounced, through a video on social networks, that their personnel suffered attacks with Molotov cocktails in the sector; likewise, in the midst of the clashes, the protesters responded to the action with shots of pellets and bullets.

In addition, around 10:00 pm, the Carabineros accused that “violent men” tried to enter an enclosure in the vicinity of Villa Francia, but were dispersed by police personnel.

After midnight the intensity of the incidents and the number of subjects in their midst had decreased.

All within the framework of demonstrations that were replicated in different areas of the country in a new commemoration of September 11, 47 years after the 1973 coup led by Augusto Pinochet, which overthrew the then democratically elected president Salvador Allende.

UNIFORMED WOUNDED IN PEÑALOLÉN

Other incidents have been reported late at night in Lo Hermida, in Peñalolén, there were incendiary barricades.

Unidentified people threw stones and even fireworks at the Carabineros who controlled the demonstration with the water-throwing car and firing tear gas canisters.

The police reported shooting by hooded men in that sector, and in fact a uniformed man was shot near his eye by pellets, although he did not present compromising injuries. He was taken to the institutional hospital.

There were attacks on the Lo Hermida Police Station, in Caracas street, with blunt objects, stones and Molotov cocktails; while in the neighboring streets incendiary barricades were erected, in Grecia and Del Valle avenues.

Acts of violence were also recorded in Huechuraba, where there were clashes and a group of subjects attacked a police station and Public Order Control personnel.

While, at least 17 uniformed personnel were injured during the day in the Metropolitan Region, according to Carabineros.

17 DETAINED IN PLAZA ITALIA

During the afternoon Plaza Baquedano was once again the center of the demonstrations, as it was again in recent weeks after months due to the pandemic. For several hours about 400 people gathered in the sector, but without being able to approach the monument to General Baquedano, which was guarded by Carabineros with water-throwing cars, with which they dispersed anyone who approached.

The protest, which began around 4:00 p.m., interrupted the traffic a couple of times and, due to the dispersions, other concentrations were generated in Bustamante Park and Forest Park, but after 8:00 p.m. the situation had calmed down.

According to the police report, there were 17 arrested for public disorder.

FIGHTING IN ANTOFAGASTA AND INCIDENTS IN TEMUCO

In addition, other incidents were recorded in Antofagasta since late at night, with clashes between protesters and the police in the Cachimba del Agua sector, at the height of the northeast exit of the regional capital.

In Temuco, in turn, a cultural political act was called by opposition parties and human rights organizations against the Tucapel Army Regiment, which functioned as a detention center during the dictatorship. It ended with some incidents, which interrupted traffic in the sector, and several arrests.
