September 11: Carabineros proceeds with water launchers in Plaza Baquedano and Transantiago anticipates closing of the service due to demonstrations

An undetermined number of people arrived on Friday afternoon to demonstrate in the Plaza Baquedano sector on a day marked by the commemorations of a new anniversary of the coup d’état of September 11, 1973.

Carabineros intervened with at least three water launchers to disperse those attending the demonstration that took place in various parts of the area. As explained in their social networks, the action of the Public Order Control Prefectural Personnel was due to “violent activists who, despite prior hoaxing, do not abandon their attitude and persist in interrupting vehicular traffic and throwing blunt objects against staff ”.

Metro de Santiago decided to close the Baquedano Station “due to disturbances abroad”, suspending the combination between lines and the stoppage of trains.

After 6.30 pm, the uniformed police reported fifty protesters interrupting the circulation of vehicles at the intersections of Andrés Bello and Vicuña Mackenna.

Transantiago, meanwhile, decided to anticipate the withdrawal of buses from the Metropolitan Region. “Due to the calls for demonstrations for this afternoon, the closure of operations will be advanced: the buses will circulate only until 20:30”, They pointed out.
