After the Chamber of Deputies rejected the readjustment of $ 1,500 in the minimum salary proposed by the Government, the Minister of Finance Ignacio Briones warned that the Executive will insist with the same proposal in the Senate.

“Here sometimes it is difficult to understand the reasons for the rejections, we have shown flexibility, we are going to insist on the Senate. I want to be very responsible, it is not responsible to propose adjustments, it is not realistic to propose adjustments greater than those we have seen in recent years “Briones said on DNA radio.

“We made a proposal in the Chamber of Deputies, we have a critical employment situation, we cannot follow the trend of recent years, we proposed maintaining the minimum wage while maintaining the level of income,” he added.

In his argument, the head of the Treasury established that “one would like the income levels of families to always be the highest possible to have quality of life, this is achieved not only through the minimum wage.”

“We are living in an employment situation that is dramatic, that requires a different look at the minimum wage that has to be done with a lot of reality because the minimum wage is not paid by the government, it is paid by the employers,” he added.
