The Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Víctor Pérez, referred to the arrest of three people with a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and bulletproof vests in Cañete.
The defendants were seized a 22 caliber rifle with ammunition, a 38 caliber revolver with five shots, a blank revolver, three bulletproof vests, three rifle magazines with ammunition and four portable radios.
Meanwhile, as could be recorded, the detainees are a father and his two sons. In this regard, Minister Pérez stated that “there is no doubt that in the houses of working families, of peace, these elements do not exist. We hope that the investigation and control of detention will begin to prove the participation of this group ”.
“I think that the fact of having managed to arrest people, that they are accused of robbery with threats, of attempted murder With this level of weapons, of equipment to commit crimes, we should not be shocked, but rather a satisfaction that the police, Carabineros de Chile are fulfilling a very important duty to advance in giving peace and tranquility to the people who live in that area. ”He added.
Meanwhile, when asked whether the arrest of this group is linked to the death of Moisés Orellana, the minister said that “I think there are more cells in that area due to the magnitude of the attacks we have suffered and for the terror that has been tried to install ”.
“It will be the Public Ministry and the investigation of the courts, which will determine the exact responsibilities of those people who will be made available to the courts,” he concluded.
The arrest of these people was achieved after a months-long investigation that originated from an arrest warrant from the Cañete Guarantee Court, for the crimes of two frustrated homicides in the Antiquina sector, against people from indigenous communities in the sector, in addition to a robbery with violence from a family in the commune.
All the detainees were at the disposal of the Cañete Guarantee Court.
