This Wednesday, the priest Sergio Ríos was arrested in Quillota, in the Valparaíso Region, accused of committing repeated sexual abuse against a boy, now 25 years old, in the town of Requínoa, O’Higgins Region, between the years 2008 and 2010, when the victim was 14 years old.

According to the head of the PDI Sex Crimes Brigade, Roberto Rodríguez, the minor met the parish priest in Valparaíso, where both he and his family generated ties of friendship. Due to these ties, the family allowed the victim to visit him in Requínoa, where he was the rector of a school.

“He would have maintained a relationship of friendship with the victim and, as a result of this, he would have visited the accused in the Requínoa commune, while the accused was serving as rector of the San José School of this commune, in these circumstances, the accused would have taken advantage of the fact that he was alone and in charge of the minor, to carry out these abuses that are currently being investigated, “Rodríguez told radio Cooperative.

On this case, a criminal and ecclesiastical investigation is carried out, for which Sergio Ríos was suspended from his priestly functions.
