After the massive demonstration that was registered in Buenos Aires and other Argentine cities against some quarantine measures, the judicial reform, this Wednesday another new protest was registered, but this time carried out by the police of the province with the same name.

The uniformed men organized a strike and a street demonstration where they demanded better wages amid the coronavirus pandemic and an economic crisis in the country.

“The protest is fair and legal. Police salaries are not enough to live, “said a spokesman for the strikers, Luis Tunil, to the trans-Andean channel C5N.

Hundreds of police officers, both retired and active, demonstrated in front of the Force’s Strategic Coordination Center, in addition to other points in the Argentine capital and some even gathered outside the Quinta de Olivos, that is, the presidential residence.

On the other hand, Argentine President Alberto Fernández declared in a public ceremony that “The problems are not solved by sounding sirens inside the patrol cars.”

The provincial police has about 90 thousand members to guarantee the safety of some 17 million inhabitants of the district, in a country of 44 million, although the tasks had to be redoubled by the vigilance of sanitary measures.

“On Thursday we will make announcements of salary and labor improvements that will be broad enough for the protests to end,” said the Buenos Aires chief of staff, Carlos Bianco, in statements to radio Network.

Fernández announced last week an investment in pesos equivalent to 460 million dollars to reinforce security in the province, where crime grew by 30%, according to official figures.
