Complaint by Hernán Calderón against his son
It was on August 11 when the lawyer Hernan Calderon presented a complaint to the Carabineros against his son, Hernán Calderón Argandoña, accusing serious injuries that kept him hospitalized in a clinic in Santiago.
During the following days, the 23-year-old remained a fugitive from justice and, later, it would be known that the complaint of Calderón Sr. charged him with the crime of frustrated patricide. This legal type was also included among the charges charged by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Raid on the department of Nano Calderón
On August 12, the Police Investigations Section (SIP) of the Carabineros found drugs, weapons and ammunition, as part of an operation by raid on the home of Hernán Calderón Argandoña.

Complaint by Rebeca Naranjo against Calderón Sr.
On Monday, August 17, Nano Calderón’s partner, Rebeca Naranjo, filed a complaint in the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago, for the crime of Repeated sexual abuse against Hérnan Calderón Salinas.
In the legal action, the plaintiff recounts a series of episodes that would have taken place at Calderón Salinas’ home, accusing touching by her boyfriend’s father, in addition to various episodes of harassment that would have triggered her leaving the apartment they shared.
Calderón Argandoña’s complaint against his son
During the same day of August 17, the details of the complaint filed by Hernán Calderón Salinas against his son, where he accuses him of frustrated patricide, recounting the attack carried out by Calderón Argandoña against him, using a crooked knife.
“The acts of that day were never of a casual nature, I consider that it was absolutely planned and if it were not for the presence of all those who they saved my life, I could not be addressing these words, “said the lawyer in the complaint.
Preventive prison in psychiatric clinic
On Tuesday, August 18, Hernán Calderón Argandoña was formalized by the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago for the attack against his father. After listening to the intervening parties and seeing the evidence that was presented in the instance, the magistrate concluded that the intention of the young man was to take the life of his father, for which he shared the classification of the crime of frustrated patricide.
Given the foregoing, the court ordered the precautionary measure of preventive prison. However, based on the psychiatric reports presented by Calderón’s defense, the judge decreed that he serve the preventive detention in the El Cedro de La Reina Clinic, where he was interned, “until he is compensated”, to later be transferred to the Santiago 1 penitentiary.
The alleged messages of Calderón Salinas to his son’s girlfriend
On August 19, Meganoticias had access to the alleged WhatsApp messages that Hernán Calderón Salinas sent Rebeca Naranjo, his son’s girlfriend, who were part of the woman’s evidence against her father-in-law.
One of the captures shows the messages that Calderón Salinas sent to the teenager, in which he asked her if she liked to sleep “with someone who doesn’t even speak to you.”
“You do not see what I am writing you. Well, I send you a big kiss good night,” says one of the messages he sent, dated May 24, 2020.
Transferred to jail
Last Thursday, August 27, the Santiago Court of Appeals accepted the appeal filed by the Prosecutor’s Office that he sought to change the place where Hernán Calderón Argandoña was serving his preventive detention.
The court of appeal finally determined that the accused be transferred to the Santiago 1 prison to continue complying with the precautionary measure decreed.
Offerings to Hernán Calderón Salinas
This Tuesday, September 8, a series of audios where the lawyer Cristian Opazo, known to Hernán Calderón Salinas and today close to the defense of his son, Hernán Calderón Argandoña, requests that he desist from the request for preventive detention against the latter, in exchange for the withdrawal of the complaint of sexual abuse reiterated presented against him by the young man’s partner.
“My friend, for the record, the idea would then be that you and your lawyers do not support the request for preventive detention regarding your son and on the other hand the defense, Mario Vargas, would withdraw from the complaints for repeated abuse (.. .) As I mentioned, you do not ask for preventive detention and the defense withdraws the complaint for repeated sexual abuse against Hernancito’s girlfriend, “says Opazo in one of the records.
Rebeca Naranjo withdraws the complaint against her father-in-law
During the same day of September 8, it would be confirmed that Rebeca Naranjo withdrew the complaint of repeated sexual abuse against Hernán Calderón Salinas. The document was presented before the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago.
The text states that “by virtue of what is established in article 118 of the Criminal Procedure Code, by this act and in the representation that I present, I expressly withdraw from the complaint presented by my client on August 17, 2020, which gave origin to the present cause, who also signs as a sign of acceptance ”.
Calderón Sr. drops charges for frustrated patricide
During this Wednesday, September 9, it was confirmed that the defense of Hernán Calderón Salinas requested the change of crime charged against his son. Specifically, the classification of serious injuries in the context of domestic violence is requested instead of the crime for which he was initially accused, which, for legal purposes, has more onerous associated penalties.
Resignation of Calderón Salinas’ lawyer
Immediately after submitting the request to change the crime charged, Hernán Calderón Salinas’ lawyer, Gustavo Riquelme, resigned to represent his client, arguing that he did not agree with the strategy taken.
After this, it was known that Calderón Salinas himself will assume his representation. “In my capacity as a lawyer, I personally assume the sponsorship, without prejudice to those already granted,” the letter states.
The hearing to review the precautionary measures for Calderón Argandoña was postponed from Tuesday, September 8, to next Monday, September 14 of the current month.
