Cases went down, but the positivity rate went up. Paris expressed concern for three communes, whose inhabitants she asked “an additional effort.”
The Ministry of Health reported 1,482 new cases and another 20 deaths from coronavirus this Wednesday morning.
According to the balance sheet chaired by the head of the portfolio, Enrique Paris, since the beginning of the pandemic the total number of infections nationwide reaches 427,027, while 11,702 people have lost their lives due to the virus (with positive PCR).
“We are staying within the margin of 1000, 1700 (contagions) average, despite the fact that today we have much fewer cases and yesterday (Tuesday) too,” valued the Secretary of State.
Despite the figures, the drop in infections recorded during this day was accompanied by an increase in the positivity of PCR tests, whose rate reached 6.8% (see image), driven by the high numbers reported in the region of Magallanes.
On the occasion, Paris also expressed its concern for three communes: La Florida, Melipilla and Rancagua.
“Obviously we request an additional effort to reverse this situation, since they are communes that have been changing step by step, step by step,” he said.
“I know that it is difficult at times to contain the pandemic, but we ask for an additional effort,” he insisted.
In return, the health authority congratulated “other communes that observe a very positive evolution of the figures”, in reference to Pudahuel, Talagante, Padre Hurtado and Til Til “.
All of them – said Paris – “have made great efforts”, so this weekend the numbers will be reviewed again to eventually give measures of “greater freedom.”
The numbers
As has been the trend, the Metropolitan region led the new infections with 513. It was followed by Bío Bío (165), Maule (113) and Valparaíso (111).
According to the balance, 125 patients are in critical health and 708 are connected to mechanical ventilation. In addition, 21,805 PCR tests were reported.
