The senator for Arica and Parinacota, José Miguel Insulza, presented his resignation this day “Indeclinable” to the vice presidency of the Socialist Party (PS).

Decision that was finalized through a letter sent on September 5 to the store president, Alvaro Elizalde, and at general secretary, Andrés Santander.

“Through this, I send you my unwavering resignation from my position as Vice President of the Socialist Party and, consequently, to the Executive Board and the Political Commission “, said the parliamentarian in the letter.

“This resignation does not extend to my membership of the Central committee, which I wish to maintain, having been elected by the militant vote. Naturally, my relationship with the Senate Bank of my party also remains unchanged “added.

In the letter, to justify his decision, the former minister also assures that he has felt a exclusion in party decisions and also that you want to have more independence.

“I have spoken several times about this issue with the President and I think the time has come to make my decision concrete. She has to do, the first place, with my need to present my ideas and proposals more freely, without feeling that with them I compromise the official position of the Party. I am also influenced by the fact that The Board has not felt the need or interest in my participation in its tasks, since none of them have been assigned to me in more than a year since I was appointed to the position. In the current campaign of the Plebiscite, all my activity corresponds to activities that come to me personally, from my region and from other regional, communal or grassroots groups ”, says the third paragraph of the letter.

Then add: “I do not believe, therefore, that my presence has any reason for you. For my part, on the other hand, I have a large agenda of partisan, regional and parliamentary work that makes me use my time in a more productive way ”.

To close the letter, Insulza assures that “I will not discuss this matter with anyone, before you acknowledge receipt of my decision and even then I will be especially careful not to do or say anything that could harm the Party, dedicated to the common task of ensuring a great victory in the plebiscite from October 25. However, I understand that my resignation is effective from this moment ”.
