“With these measures everything goes to waste, this great effort made by the city”. With those words he questioned the Mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich, the plan announced this week by the government for the National Holidays, and that will allow residents of towns that are in quarantine, such as the capital of Magallanes, to rejoin.

The plan Foothold at Home will allow that, by means of a permit obtained through police stations or in Virtual Police Station, who are in quarantined communes can receive up to five people in closed spaces or up to days in public places (the patio of a house is counted as closed).

Those who live in localities in phases of Initial preparation or opening of the Step by Step Plan (that is, they are not in lockdown) will not require permission.

The measure has been questioned by different mayors of regions.

While the mayor Punta Arenas assured in Cooperativa that “we believe that it is contradictory and in this health effort, of course we have to be very clear and not generate these exceptions” – at a time when Magallanes registered its highest number of cases in one day-, the mayors of the northern zone, Marcelo Pereira (Coquimbo), Roberto Jacob (La Serena) and Claudio Renteria (Ovalle), sent a letter to the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, asking that these permits not be granted.

According to the newspaper El Día, in the letter they also claim that the opinion of the municipalities of the Coquimbo region was not considered to make up your mind.

This week, the mayor of Concepción, Sergio Giacaman, had opened the fires against the plan, when it came out to qualify as “Contradictory” and “permissive” the measures announced by the Executive. The authority’s statement was questioned by the Minister Paris, and for him head of the Segegob, Jaime Bellolio, who even said Friday that Giacaman I would “correct” his words.

Far from that, the mayor pointed out hours later that “It would be inconsistent to retract.”

In the last hours, moreover, the seremi de Salud de Antofagasta, Rossana Díaz, also occupied the term “contradictory” to refer to the ad.
