The Ministry of Health reported this Saturday almost 2,000 new infections of covid-19 nationwide, also adding another 57 deaths due to the pandemic.

Specific, there are 1,961 new cases, practically the same number as yesterday, bringing the total number of people who have been diagnosed in the country to 420,434. Of that total, 15,916 patients are active, that is, “contagious.”

The last time there were less than a thousand daily infections was four months ago, on May 4, when 980 cases were counted, a record prior to the peak. And in the last 60 days, the measurement of new cases has not decreased: it remains stable and only varies between 1,200 to 2,200 infections per day.

Regarding deaths, the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS) details 57 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 11,551 in the country.

To date, 908 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 666 are on mechanical ventilation support and 121 are in critical health. 490 fans remain available on the national network.

“Yesterday the results of 34,595 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 2,575,313 tests analyzed at the national level,” reports Minsal. This good rate of testing has allowed the positivity to be kept very low, which on this day was 5.67%.
