An older adult died on Friday afternoon after a fire that affected a building in Santiago Centro. The incident consumed two apartments.

The information was confirmed by the second commander of the Santiago Fire Department, Diego Velásquez, who explained that the fire originated from the ignition of an electrical device.

The victim would not have been able to leave the property once the emergency began.

For their part, 70 people had to be evacuated from the building and 10 received medical attention.

It took place in San Pablo and Hermanos Amunátegui, mobilizing firefighters from Santiago and Quinta Normal.

As reported by the first unit, 14 cars came out to control the accident and prevent its spread to the neighboring homes.

The fire originated on the sixth floor, leaving two apartments affected by flames.

The situation was controlled by the units that resorted to the emergency.

From Transporte Informa they indicated that the transit of Amunátegui is diverted by Rosas and that of San Pablo by Manuel Rodríguez.

In the same way, they warn that the fire trucks occupy the first track of General Mackenna when they arrive at Teatinos to carry water.
