This Friday a milestone was confirmed within the Chilean business world: the workers of the fishing company Friosur SpA -through a cooperative- 20% of the firm joined as shareholders, which is one of the main ones in the Aysén region.
“Today the workers through their Cooperativa they entered as owners of 20% of the company. This is a decision that we made three years ago with the Icelandic partners of Brim Hf, to reward them for the great effort they have made for more than 30 years working, always taking care to improve productivity, training and the work environment “, commented José. Luis del Río, president of the fishery.
The Government in the voice of the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Brionesapplauded the new associative model de Friosur, in which, therefore, the workers will have a representative within the board of directors.
“It is a remarkable, novel, innovative fact that advances in the direction of shedding light on a different and more collaborative type of relationship between employers and workers “, he expressed through a video.
The Secretary of State congratulated the company and the collaborators for this a fact that he described as “a milestone”; and appreciated that both parties achieved this progress in order to ensure the success of the company.
Along these lines, he added that what happened in Friosur it’s an example to follow”.
“I congratulate you, I wish you the best of success,” he stressed.
Finally, the head of the fiscal coffers recalled that in these times “something fundamental is economic recovery and employment. Let’s observe the health protocols (…) because that is crucial to have a recovery ”.
