After 123 days the eight Mapuche community members of Angol finally denounced the hunger strike that they carried out in the jail of said city of the Araucanía Region.
The spokesman for the fasting leaders, Rodrigo Curipán, regretted that “the government acted intransigently” faced with the complex situation of the community members and called to keep active “the different actions of political protest”.
“It is proven that it is the Government who did not have the political capacity to address a situation that the Mapuche have raised and that has to do with the effective application of ILO Convention 169“said the spokesman.
Curipán ratified that from now on “they will come mobilizations that are going to intensify in different Mapuche territories “and that the Government will be responsible for what may happen.
“We continue to hold that it is the government that has come acting uncompromising, this situation is now open to the Mapuche and the different territories continue with the different actions of political protest so that it is the government who is the responsable of all the events that occur from now on, “he closed.
