Cyberday smashes historical records and doubles 2019 sales despite the pandemic | Economy

After 3 days of intense activity and more than 200 million visits to the participating sites, CyberDay 2020 ended with estimated sales of US $ 368 million, the product of more than 4 million transactions nationwide; double what was registered in 2019.

The growth of the amounts in pesos, meanwhile, reached 53% in real terms, with three-digit figures in the case of the categories of goods and contractions in some service areas that remain strongly affected by the pandemic, such as tourism and their related activities.

Despite this, all the sectors multiplied by several times the sales they had been registering in the previous months.

Tourism and travel companies, for example, multiplied their sales by 6 in relation to normal days, as well as multi-stores, marketplaces and supermarkets.

Home equipment and technology, meanwhile, amplified sales by more than 10 times, while in the automotive and real estate sectors, two segments very hit by the pandemic, the multiples exceeded 15 times.

In the case of charities, one of the novelties of this version, according to still preliminary figures, the contributions they received were multiplied by 15 in relation to the average of normal days.

A similar situation was experienced by participating SMEs and companies in the regions, which, together with the above, consolidates results well above expectations regarding the main objectives of this edition of the event: support for SMEs, regional trade, the sectors most affected by the crisis and households, through access to goods and services at discounted prices in the midst of the difficult context the country is going through.

Few claims

According to a survey commissioned by the CCS during the 3 days of the event, 45% of consumers stated that they had made purchases on CyberDay or had the intention to do so, and 14% indicated that they would do so for the first time, online with the rapid integration of people to online purchases registered in recent months.

In relation to the final balance of claims made by Sernac (1,198), the CCS valued that the figure represented only 0.029% of the total transactions, maintaining the levels of last year’s CyberDay, despite the fact that companies had to attend more 2 million more orders than on that occasion.

According to the union, this is a clear sign that the companies in the sector have privileged the quality of the service provided to customers, maintaining the high standards achieved in “normal” times, even when the entire e-commerce ecosystem is working. months ago at the limit of its capacity.
