Minister Paris makes the official launch of the Cenabast Law: Check the list of medicines that today you can find 80% cheaper

This afternoon, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, together with the director of the Central Supply (Cenabast), Valentín Díaz, officially launched the Cenabast Law, which aims to reduce people’s out-of-pocket spending on medicines.

The “Cenabast Law” allows the Central Supply intermediate the purchase of drugs for independent pharmacies, in order to ensure a lower price. It is also Cenabast itself, which sets a maximum price at which pharmacies can sell these drugs to the public, thus ensuring that drugs are sold at a low price.

In this regard, Minister Paris highlighted this law and what it means for Chilean spending.

“I think this milestone today is very important (…) In Chile, out-of-pocket spending for medicines is the highest of all the countries that are in the OECDTherefore, within the government program of President Sebastián Piñera, one of the relevant milestones was to reduce or try to reduce the price of medicines, ”he indicated.

“We are fulfilling a dream, so that the neediest people can obtain medicines at 80% cheaper,” he added.

Along the same lines, Díaz stressed that there are currently 210 pharmacies that have adhered to this law and the goal is to reach 500.

Medicines such as Eutirox, for example, have an average price in pharmacies of $ 8,542, however, under the Cenabast price its cost is reduced to $ 4,580. Insulatard, on the other hand, which has an average retail cost of $ 31,660, has a Cenabast cost of $ 4,970, thus, there is a difference of 537%.
