The mayor of Bío Bío, Sergio Giacaman, confirmed that he asked the Minister of Health evaluate family leave that will be delivered for the National Holidays.
In this sense, he qualified the measures as contradictory and permissive, this considering that 7 communes of Greater Concepción are in quarantine.
Regarding the MAPA project, ruled out that there are exceptions for workers living in quarantined communes, this after the new instructions this Wednesday.
Permission “eighteen”
During this Wednesday, the new measures that will be implemented for the National Holidays, in the middle of the pandemic, were reported.
Among these is a special permission to visit relatives, which will last for six hours once a day. This will allow five people to visit a family group.
With this document, people will be able to move from one point to another, even if the commune is in quarantine or in transition.
“Seven out of ten cases (in the Bío Bío) are due to family outbreaks, therefore when yesterday we preliminarily learned about the measure ‘Fondéate en tu casa’ (…) it seems to us a good measure for the regions and communes that are in phase 2 , 3, 4 and 5. Of the 33 communes, 26 in our region are in that, but there are seven that are in Phase 1, and for those we ask the minister to evaluate this measure “said the mayor.
The highest regional authority added that this is a measure permissive and contradictory for communes that are in quarantine.
Controversy over the MAPA Project
The Bío Bío mayor also referred to the controversy over the MAPA project, where workers living in quarantine received an exception” to be able to go to the works.
Last Tuesday, the seremi of Health, Héctor Muñoz, confirmed that the nearly two thousand workers who live in quarantined areas they could move, if they had a negative PCR.
“We established for people in quarantined communes that, due to some important activities that are being carried out in that construction, only people who have undergone a PCR and the result of them are negative can work,” he said.
Now the mayor, who at the time defended the measure stating that “what we have to look at is that we are in an exceptional situation “, said that this Wednesday the instructions were updated, so these “exceptional” permits are not considered for construction works, such as the MAPA project.
Giacaman added that what was discussed with the Chilean Chamber of Construction is gCreate a special protocol for any project, but that has not yet been approved or signed.
