“There are no Chileans with those benefits”
Along the same lines, the PPD Senator Felipe Harboe, which considered the financial reparation agreement questionable and disproportionate: “There are no Chilean workers who have this type of benefits“, he claimed.
“What happens to the children killed by a ‘crazy bullet’? What happens to the dozens of people who lost their sight at the hands of the state agent? What happens to a group of people who are victims of crime but As they do not have the strength to cut the roads, they do not have these benefits? It does not seem an adequate or proportional solution for the moment in which we are living, “said the former undersecretary of the Interior.
“At the end of the day, it seems that this was not a security problem (to work on the routes), but a resource problem”, he warned.
The DC ultimatum
On Monday, the DC delivered a 24-hour ultimatum for the Government to resolve the mobilization of transporters, mainly due to the shortage problems that it has brought to the country.
Early this Wednesday, the Falange ratified the accusation against the Minister of the Interior, due to the inaction of the Executive regarding the strike, but a few hours later it was announced that the truckers’ unions decided to overturn the stoppage after reaching an agreement with La Moneda regarding all its requirements.
“The ultimatum (of the DC) has allowed the talks to accelerate and today to reach an understanding between the unions that were mobilized and the Government”, said the president of the aforementioned party, Fuad Chahín, at a press point around 7:00 p.m., after meeting with his bench.
“In that new stage, what the deputies of the bench have informed me is that, first, they are verifying whether the lifting of the strike is actually everywhere and if this is going to materialize on each of the country’s highways and roads “, said the former parliamentarian.
In this context, Chahín affirmed that the withdrawal of the impeachment attempt against Pérez they are going to discuss it “also with the rest of the opposition, because that constitutional accusation generated the endorsement, the support, of the other parties and what corresponds is that they talk about it from the evaluation of the events that have occurred today. “
The President of the DC, Fuad Chahín, stated that with the lifting of the truckers’ strike a “new scenario” is generated, and announced that the constitutional accusation against Minister Víctor Pérez will be reevaluated with the other opposition benches.@Cooperative
