Wide criticism through social networks received the truckers union that has been paralyzed for six days, after the disclosure of a video that shows part of the protesters dancing with semi-naked women, in the middle of the pandemic. The undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli, announced criminal complaints against those responsible.
“We are gathering information to see exactly where these events would have occurred. If they are effective, they are very serious. With this background, we will present the criminal complaint for article 318 of the Penal Code, ”said Galli.
“As we have done at the beginning of this pandemic, we said that people who fail to comply with the measures established by the health authority, not only put their own health at risk, but also that of others. In this case, there is no empathy for the citizens, who have spent months with a lot of effort, taking extreme measures to take care not only of their health, but the health of the entire population ”, he said
The undersecretary understands the mobilization, but condemns the facts disclosed through an audiovisual record. “We fully empathize with the demands of the freight transport union, because we believe that it has been an activity that has allowed the supply chain in our country in times of pandemic and that is why we absolutely condemn the violence that has been the object of the southern macrozone. That is why as a government we made a gigantic effort to respond to those demands and make a proposal ”.
He also added: “As we empathize with the victims of violence, we ask that this movement be empathic with the vast majority of citizens who have been subjected to restrictive measures of their freedoms as a result of the pandemic and cannot account for such lack of empathy with this type of event. That is why we have asked for the background information to know where this occurred and to present criminal complaints ”.
Article 318 punishes whoever puts “public health in danger by violating the hygienic or health rules, duly published by the authority, in times of catastrophe, epidemic or contagion.” “It will be an aggravating circumstance of this crime to commit it by calling shows, celebrations or festivities prohibited by the health authority in times of catastrophe, pandemic or contagion,” adds the rule, which also establishes a penalty of a minimum to medium or fine from six to two hundred Monthly Tax Units.
