Two videos, one from 2011 and one from 2020, were edited to make it appear that the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, he fell asleep in the middle of a television interview, snoring, before the confused look of his interlocutor.
The manipulated record was released by Dan Scavino, director of Social Networks and head of Communications for President Donald Trump, Biden’s adversary for this year’s presidential elections in the United States.
However, the video – which has already been removed for copyright infringement – is actually the result of the mixing of two transmissions, as confirmed by the site specialized in news verification, Snopes.

As detailed, a video was used dating from October 2011, in which the 84-year-old singer, Harry Belafonte, appeared on a television program in California, apparently falling asleep before his participation began.

Her representatives came out to explain the situation at that very moment, stating that the apparent “nap” was actually a minute that was given to meditate, not listening to her interlocutor due to a problem with the headset.

In its original version, it is clear that the current candidate and former vice president of Barack Obama did not fall asleep, but a fragment in which he looks down was used and repeated, snoring being added to the video.
The edit goes in the direction of the nickname that Trump uses against his rival, as he has done before with others: he calls him “sleepyhead Biden.”
However, the specialized media clarifies that, despite the fact that Scavino spread false information as members of the Trump administration have done multiple times before – including the president himself – the author is another person who came out to defend his creation on the networks social.
The user, identified as @damonimani, assured that the record is “technically” real, insisting that Biden “took a nap” on the broadcast despite evidence to the contrary. “I just put the videos together,” he said.
