In the infirmary of the Penitentiary Center of Concepción are the 12 community members from Lebu prison on hunger strike, after being discharged from the Los Angeles Hospital.

The Medical College explained that due to the stable evaluation of his health, the group did not require staying in the health center, being able to be monitored on an outpatient basis.

This occurs after the Los Angeles doctors discharged 11 of the Mapuche community members and after rejecting another ordered hospitalization, is that the Gendarmerie transferred the group to the Penquista prison.

Through a statement, the prison agency explained the measure, ensuring that it was the doctors from the Base Hospital who recommended that the group remain in the infirmary of the Concepción prison, which was ratified by the leader of the gendarmes, Benito Saravia.

The relatives of the self-described Mapuche political prisoners, however, do not believe what the Gendarmería reported, assuring their spokesperson, Auka Castro, that the transfer to Concepción is what the regional director Diter Villarroel was looking for since the group began the hunger strike two months ago.

The question is why, if health monitoring was required, the Los Angeles Hospital did not leave the group hospitalized and preferred to send them to the infirmary of the Concepción Prison Center.

He was the president of the Los Angeles Medical College, Luis Medina, who explained the decision.

Surely the legal actions against the transfer will continue, because according to the families of the community members, the stay of the 12 accused in Concepción goes against what was resolved this Monday by the judge of Cañete, Macarena Bobadilla, who prohibited his transfer to a prison other than Lebu’s.
