The president of the Federation of Truckers of the Valparaíso Region, Ivan MatelunaHe informed his colleagues that they will suspend the union’s mobilization in the area, one week after the start of the sector strike.
Mateluna marked a distancing of his Federation with the National Confederation announcing the “suspension” of the strike, He also criticized the form of negotiation and said that they would evaluate its continuity in the national organization.
“We have a great difference in how the Confederation negotiated what the Federation (of Valparaíso) had requested, and we are going to settle that internally and we are going to evaluate our continuity in the National Confederation,” he said.
The leader indicated that perhaps the next mobilizations will not be en route, due to the government’s threats to invoke the State’s internal security law.
“The next pressure is not going to be here (in reference to Route 68), it is going to be in strategic places. You will understand later, “he said.
Mateluna did not want to confirm that there was an agreement with the government, because there is a point in which they maintain differences on the compensation received by truckers whose machines are damaged or destroyed by arson attack.
“If the petition agreements are not fulfilled, we are going to carry out a mobilization again ”, warned.
