The Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS) delivered a first balance of the CyberDay 2020, an event that began at 00:00 hours on Monday and will last until the end of the day on Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, the more than 560 participating sites of the official CyberDay reached sales of more than US $ 160 million during the first day of the event.
“This occurred amid high interest from consumers, which brought transactions to a historic 1.6 million, doubling what was observed on the first day of CyberDay 2019 ″, indicated the union.
The total amounts, meanwhile, grew by 63%, with a different behavior between the “goods” segment (which increased more than 100%) and the services segment, affected by the complex situation of segments such as tourism and travel, entertainment and culture.
“The latter, however, showed a rebound in relation to the previous weeks,” added the CCS.
In the “goods” segment, the trend observed in the first hours was maintained, with strong demand by categories for audio and video, white goods, technology, clothing and footwear and accessories usually.
According to the first impressions collected, the charities who participate in the event have obtained very favorable results, “Channeling the solidarity effort in the midst of the pandemic of thousands of homes, one of the main objectives of this edition”.
Regional companies, said the organization, have also received a strong boost in their orders, “having already placed in some cases a large part of the stock prepared for the event.”
Regarding consumer complaints, despite the significant increase in the number of orders, the total number of incidents reported by Sernac up to 6:30 am “remains, as a proportion, around 0.02% of transactions.”
“The latter is especially noteworthy in a context in which the sector is operating to the maximum of its capabilities, including logistics, which forces companies to redouble their efforts to maintain the quality of the shopping experience for customers” , the CCS pointed out in its first balance sheet.
