With a strong call for responsibility and self-care, the regional authorities reported this Monday on the increase in the mobility of people in La Serena, Coquimbo and Ovalle, despite the quarantine that governs those communes.
“The study of mobility in these three communes indicates that, as the quarantine progresses, mobility begins to increase, both in the streets and in the greater presence of people in supermarkets, pharmacies and commercial premises, which is extremely worrying,” he said. the seremi of Health, Alejandro García.
The Health Authority provided some figures in this regard, mainly from the conurbation, where mobility in commercial premises went from -88% on August 2 to -71% on August 25. In supermarkets and pharmacies, on the other hand, it went from -66% to -55% in the same period. “This worries us enormously, because if we do not reduce mobility in La Serena, Coquimbo and Ovalle, we will not end the quarantines, since there is a risk of new infections by having more people circulating,” added Seremi García.
General Pablo Onetto, head of the National Defense, also expressed concern about the high mobility evidenced in recent days. “If it is not something essential or urgent, try to schedule your outings since it is very notorious how few people we see on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the center of La Serena and Coquimbo, unlike on a Monday like today, where we see long lines and many crowded people. The same happens in supermarkets on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings ”, he pointed out.
