A 4 year old boy remains seriously hospitalized at the Dr. Exequiel González Cortés Hospital after being run over by a Carabineros van in Lo Espejo.

According to Prefect Mario Cárdenas, of the Santiago Rinconada Prefecture, the situation occurred on Saturday afternoon when police personnel were looking for individuals who were driving high-end cars and they threatened neighbors with firearms.

In that operation, an institutional van entered a passage, at which point the boy left his house, so he was run over by the vehicle.

Cárdenas indicated that the policeman who was driving the mobile tried to get off to help the minor, “but it was impossible because neighbors approached violently with the intention of attacking him ”.

Therefore, he left the place. “In no case did he run away,” he added, as he notified superiors.

Finally, Cárdenas added that the uniformed man carried out the mandatory breathalyzer, that the records were delivered to the Public Ministry and that they are attentive to the child’s condition.

Stable

For her part, the prosecutor Nadia Mondiglio of the South Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the minor is stable in the Critical Patients Unit of the Hospital Dr. Exequiel González Cortés.

He added that the fact is investigated as near misdemeanor of serious injury and that the official will be summoned to the Public Prosecutor’s Office pending the reports that will determine his responsibility in the facts.
