The British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was awarded this Sunday in Belgium his fifth Grand Prix of seven possible this season, after starting from pole position and dominating the race from start to finish.

At the helm of the F1 World Championship, the Briton increases his advantage over the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull) at 47 points.

His teammate, the Finn Valtteri Bottas, and Verstappen, who followed him on the starting grid, completed the podium.

The Renault of Australian Daniel Ricciardo and French Esteban Ocon were 4th and 5th.

For Ferrari, lacking rhythm on this track, the nightmare continues: German Sebastian Vettel was 13th and Monegasque Charles Leclerc 14th.

Leclerc was summoned by the race stewards, who reproach him having driven too slow during the reconnaissance lap, before getting on the grid.

Thai Alexander Albon (Red Bull), Briton Lando Norris (McLaren), Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Renault), Canadian Lance Stroll (Racing Point) and Mexican Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) completed the top 10.

A spectacular exit from the track by Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) on lap 11 also caused the abandonment of the British George Russell (Williams), who could not avoid one of the wheels of the Italian, who had returned to the track. Both pilots came out unscathed.

Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr (McLaren) did not start due to an engine problem, which caused an exhaust failure as he headed for the grid.
