The development of quarantine in the Coquimbo-La Serena conurbation is taking place in a different way. In La Serena, according to the latest health balance, 20 new cases of people affected with coronavirus are reported, while in Coquimbo 57 were registered, therefore, one month after the total quarantine, the regional authorities reinforce the call to respect the measure , to prevent the confinement from spreading further.
The mayor Lucía Pinto said that the community should make greater efforts to lower the figures.
There is a notable difference in the communes. We are very concerned about Coquimbo. We have talked with the mayors and the chief of defense to evaluate new measures and strengthen others to obtain better results. We ask them to take the measures and the importance of this quarantine ”.
The mayor of Coquimbo, Marcelo Pereira, expressed that efforts to lower the rates are being doubled, but that it is very important that people become aware of this so that this happens. Many preventive efforts have been made in the commune, especially in Tierras Blancas and Part Alta. In Tierras Blancas we have a large population of migrants and we are seeing how they are acting. We are not leaving aside the possibility of creating a sanitary cordon, in the event of a situation of no return.
Meanwhile, the mayor of La Serena, Roberto Jacob, highlighted the positive evolution that has been seen in his commune. I think people are understanding. Today we congratulate them because their behavior has changed. We are on the right track and if we have said many times that they have been irresponsible, today the figures say otherwise.
The mayor of Ovalle, Claudio Renteria, is optimistic about the figures for his commune, which in the last report showed 23 cases. “We have to help each other, collect the experiences of each one to improve. We have a strategy to help control and supervise and when we see that we do not have a good behavior in quarantine, we will apply it so that the measure develops well. Today we thank people for the good results and continue to progressively decrease, he said, referring to the first week of quarantine that the capital of Limarí is experiencing.
