Romy Rutherford, visiting minister of the Court Martial, who investigates corruption within the Army, processed seven retired officers during this day for repeated crimes of embezzlement of public funds.
Among them, General (r) Jozo Santic stands out, who has already been sentenced in two cases that the magistrate is processing, known as “Tecnodata edge”.
There is also General (r) Jorge Rojas Meissner; former director of finance; Commander (r) Cristóbal Butti, who administered the house of former Army Commander-in-Chief Humberto Oviedo; the commander (r) Rodolfo Hidalgo, who served as “order officer” of the house where the former institutional chief Juan Miguel Fuente-Alba; Sergio Vásquez, a key man in Fuente-Alba’s finances; Colonel (r) Jorge Cortés Díaz, known as the “dealer” of the reserved expenses that Fuente-Alba delivered; as well as Paublo Ignacio Rosas García.
All were summoned from 2:00 p.m. to be notified of the charges.
What is striking in the prosecutions are the millionaire figures involved in the crimes. In fact, Minister Rutherford decreed the seizure of assets for $ 4,000,000,000 (four billion pesos) with respect to Cortés Díaz; b) $ 3,900,000,000 (three thousand nine hundred million pesos) with respect to Sergio Vásquez; c) $ 1,300,000,000 (one thousand three hundred million pesos) with respect to Rosas García; d) $ 3,900,000,000 (three thousand nine hundred million pesos) with respect to Jorge Rojas Meissner; e) $ 2,600,000,000 (two thousand six hundred million pesos) with respect to Jozo Santic; f) $ 1,020,000,000 (one thousand and twenty million pesos) regarding Rodolfo Hidalgo and g) $ 1,300,000,000 (one thousand three hundred million pesos) regarding Cristóbal Butti.
Resolutions
“I.- Jorge Rodolfo Cortes Díaz is prosecuted in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides for and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 2,980,800,000 (two thousand nine hundred eighty million eight hundred thousand pesos) in 2014, equivalent to 72,918 UTM, that currently reach the amount of $ 3,665,733,696 (three thousand six hundred sixty-five million seven hundred thirty-three thousand six hundred ninety-six pesos).
II.- Sergio Álvaro Vásquez Undurraga is tried in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 3,513,801,200 (three thousand five hundred and thirteen million eight hundred one thousand two hundred pesos) as of 2017, equivalent to 72,091.2 UTM that currently reach the amount of $ 3,665,733,696 (three thousand six hundred sixty-five million seven hundred thirty-three thousand six hundred ninety-six pesos).
III.- Paublo Ignacio Rosas García is submitted to the process in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 1,082,238,000 (one thousand eighty-two million two hundred thirty-eight thousand pesos) as of 2018 , equivalent to 23,229.4 UTM that currently reach the amount of $ 1,167,789,007 (one thousand one hundred sixty-seven million seven hundred eighty-nine thousand seven pesos).
IV.- Jorge Rojas Meissner is submitted to process in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides for and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 3,407,280,931 (two thousand four hundred seven million two hundred eighty thousand nine hundred thirty-one pesos) to year 2016, equivalent to 69,905.8 UTM that currently reach the amount of $ 3,564,511,024 (three thousand five hundred sixty-four million five hundred eleven thousand twenty-four pesos).
V.- Jozo Aurelio Santic Palomino is subjected to a process in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds which provides for and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 1,925,063,828 (one thousand nine hundred twenty-five million sixty-three thousand eight hundred twenty-eight pesos) as of 2013 , equivalent to 47,092.1 UTM which currently reach the amount of $ 2,367,414,051 (two thousand three hundred sixty-seven million four hundred fourteen thousand fifty-one pesos).
VI.- Rodolfo Guillermo Hidalgo Fariña is prosecuted in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 750,000,000 (seven hundred and fifty million pesos) in 2014, equivalent to 18,347.2 UTM which currently reach the amount of $ 922,354,322 (nine hundred twenty-two million three hundred fifty-four thousand three hundred twenty-two pesos).
VII.- Cristóbal Ignacio Butti López is submitted to proceedings in his capacity as author of the repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds that provides and sanctions article 233 in connection with article 238, both of the Penal Code, related to a total damage caused to the Chilean Treasury amounting to $ 1,121,400,000 (one thousand one hundred twenty-one million four hundred thousand pesos) as of 2018, equivalent to 23,007 , 3 UTM that currently reach the amount of $ 1,156,624,213 (one thousand one hundred fifty-six million six hundred twenty-four thousand two hundred thirteen pesos)“.
