At the end of a week with a record of infections and deaths from coronavirus in Argentina, President Alberto Fernández authorized outdoor social gatherings on Friday while Buenos Aires will reopen bars and restaurants amid a five-month quarantine.

The measure will govern the entire country, but each jurisdiction will define how to implement it. Meetings of people in closed places are still prohibited.
“Personal responsibility is more necessary than ever, which has a collective impact in order to minimize risks,” the president warned.
With the same open-minded spirit, the Buenos Aires mayor’s office will allow restaurants and bars to serve customers at outdoor tables and chairs starting Monday. Until now they could only offer home delivery or take away foodr.
It will also enable construction for works larger than 5,000 square meters and / or that are less than 90 days away.
Mayor Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, who belongs to an opposition force to the president, indicated that in the Argentine capital “the daily average of cases is still 1,100; in other words, for more than a month and a half, the cases in the city have been stable ”.
This stability in the numbers led the mayor to evaluate the opening of schools, but so far it does not have the endorsement of the national government. Only a couple of provinces authorized face-to-face classes.
