Feminist. This was stated by the new Minister for Women and Gender Equity, Macarena Santelices.

In conversation with CHV News, the Secretary of State commented that “to be a feminist you have to fight for women’s rights, being a feminist does not mean having a political color”.

However, she warned that there is a difference between being feminist and feminist movements, since, in her opinion, the latter “are absolutely different, especially those who seek chaos, destruction and disqualification, which has nothing to do with it. with the massive marches that we have seen in our country of women for peace, for just causes, which is what we women need in Chile ”.

Santelices also responded to criticism that his appointment has had for not possessing the necessary gender credentials for the position. On that, he said that “one has to know people.”

“To know about gender and sisterhood, you have to be a woman, know what it costs in this country to make a space for yourself,” she concluded.
