IND presents three cases of Covid-19 after one week of Safe Return

The “Safe Return” imposed by the Government continues to infect officials from different areas of the executive. And now, there are three workers from the IND, in the Metropolitan Region, who were infected with Covid-19, in addition to about twenty who are in quarantine, waiting to know whether or not they are carriers of the virus.

Last Monday, the IND and the Mindep began to implement the plan to return to work in the offices, but infections quickly spread among workers with two different outbreaks of coronavirus: two in the IND High Performance department and one in the National Stadium.

Who delivers the information is Fabián Zamora, president of the IND Officers Association (Asofind): “The first case arose with an official who quarantined Ñuñoa for seven weeks. He was healthy, but when he returned to work, he was infected, which caused an outbreak in the High Performance department, with another infected official ”. As for the National Stadium case, in addition to the infected one, seven other people are awaiting the results of their PCR tests.

The offices of the IND and the Mindep are located in Providencia and although the protocols imposed by health (abundant dispensers of gel alcohol and distance between workers) were complied with, transportation, like many Chileans, is their main source of infection. Since they do not have many parking lots for workers, many use public transportation to get to work. “This situation was totally avoidable. We are not an indispensable service and sport, by health resolution, is suspended “says Zamora.

Phase two of the Safe Return was being completed this week, in which more officials should reach the different IND and Mindep offices. All of this, now, is in question.

Consulted by this situation, from the department of communications of the Mindep, they discard being before a massive outbreak. “We categorically deny that there is an outbreak. There are two officials at the central level confirmed with Covid-19 and one from the National Stadium who has symptoms and the exam was done today. Yesterday, as a precaution, 18 officials who had had direct contact with the confirmed cases were quarantined. It has acted according to the protocol of the Ministry of Health “they noted.
