Chile registers the highest daily rise with 22 deaths and for the second day exceeds 2,600 cases | National

The Ministry of Health (Minsal) delivered a new report on the situation of the coronavirus in the country until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, in which 2,659 new cases were recorded, of which 2,301 are symptomatic and 358 asymptomatic.

Specifically, this Thursday’s report marks practically equal the record of daily cases registered yesterday (2,660).

According to what was reported by the Undersecretary of Health, Paula Daza, to date there are 15,655 “recovered” and 19,170 active, so that the total number of cases reaches 37,040 since the start of the pandemic.

Likewise, the record of deceased patients was exceeded on Thursday: 22 dead, of whom 12 suffered from chronic diseases. Of these, 18 belong to the Metropolitan region, 2 from La Araucanía, 1 in Ñuble and 1 in Valparaíso, with which there are already 368 deaths since the start of the pandemic in Chile.

In this way, the maximum of 13 deaths that had been reached 3 times was exceeded: on April 22, May 2 and May 3.

By region, as is already known, by far the majority of new cases are concentrated in the Metropolitan (2,251), followed by far by Valparaíso (90), Tarapacá (67), Antofagasta (61), O’Higgins (47), La Araucanía (41) and Maule (34).

Meanwhile, according to the Undersecretary of Assistance Networks, Arturo Zuñiga, to date 325,417 PCR tests have been performed, of which 11,502 have been carried out in the last 24 hours.

So far, in addition, there are 555 patients connected to mechanical ventilation and 114 in critical condition due to Covid-19.
