This Monday the Municipality of Ñuñoa announced the suspension of the Chilean Party that would take place in the premises of the National Stadium from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 September.
The announcement comes amid the Covid-19 pandemic that is currently affecting the country, and which led to a preventive quarantine for the Ñuñoa commune, which was fully lifted last week.
From the municipality they stated that “There are no sanitary conditions to carry out the event.”
The mayor Andrés Zarhi noted that “In normal times at this time we started to organize this massive event that gathers thousands of ñuñoínos and people from other communes, so that creemos that the most sensible thing to do is to make this situation transparent, since many merchants plan their income with this party ”.
They detailed that last year the event hosted more than 35 thousand people during the six days it spread.
From the municipality they also indicated that the approximately $ 700 million used for the celebration will be invested in communal expenses, as in technical aids, as was done with the funds for the New Year celebration, which was also canceled.
