The firm will give different benefits to those who wish to leave the company, which was in line with the available budget.
Among the measures to lower its costs, Latam Airlines had promoted a voluntary employee retirement plan, which ended this Thursday with the approval of a total of 800 applications, those that are in line with the budget available for such an initiative for each company in the group.
In addition, it emerged that 1,000 unpaid licenses were approved. The firm has around 43,000 employees considering all the countries where it operates.
The retirement plan included three segments to apply according to seniority. In all the categories it was considered to give the complete compensation for the years of service in the company, but they were differentiated by the additional benefits that those who wanted to leave the company could access, which depended on the period of time in which they worked on the airline.
In the first category, employees who have been in the company for up to three years were considered. For them, they will be paid the complementary health insurance for six months and they will be able to obtain two airline tickets paying an amount of up to 50% cheaper, but only if they get on the plane on the date and time chosen.
They will also have another six tickets at zero cost, where only the boarding fee is paid. However, those are subject to flight capacity and may not board if there are passengers who need them at the last minute. The last two mentioned benefits last for 12 months.
The second category corresponds to workers between 3 to 10 years old. They will be paid six months supplementary health insurance, an additional payment is included whose amount is equivalent to 1.5 salaries. As for other benefits, they will have four tickets with a cost of 50% and 15 in which they only pay the boarding fee. All for a period of 24 months.
The third strip of workers who can access the plan are those with more than 10 years in Latam. For them, the payment of the complementary health insurance will extend for twelve months. They will also have an additional payment of three salaries. In the case of air tickets, they will have six tickets with a cost of 50% and 25 air tickets in which they only pay the boarding fee. All this for a period of 36 months.
