During this day, a meeting was held between the Commission on the Return of Football, an organism created by representatives of various clubs in ANFP and composed of Marcelo Espina, which should analyze the alternatives that are proposed for the resumption of the national championship as soon as the health crisis is overcome.
The governing body of Chilean football issued a statement explaining two points: tournaments should end this year, and not postpone them until 2021, and that there will be no changes in the championship system.
“The Football Returns Commission assumes that tournaments continue in accordance with current formats and do not change when resuming competitions. In the same way, the goal is to finish the championship this year. ”, indicates the text available on the ANFP website.
This emphasizes that “All guidelines provided by the Football Returns Commission will be consistent with the decisions of the health authorities. And this, both in the process of returning to training, and in returning to competitions, will contribute to protecting the health of everyone involved in football, from players to fans, as the main interest. ”,
To do this, coordinated work is being carried out with the Medical Commission, which includes doctors Fernando Janes, Jaime Labarka and Cesar Kalazic. After that, special rules and protocols for care will be developed, which will be respected after the players return to training.
Is the timeline? “As reported at the first meeting, the health department suspended football indefinitely, and there are no definitions, either nationally or globally, regarding the development of the Covid-19 pandemic.” Therefore, it is currently not possible to plan specific dates for a return to football activities. When these dates are available, everyone will be ready to resume tournaments as soon as possible. ”they point to Quilín.
In addition to Marcelo Espina, the commission also includes Rene Rosas (Concepcion University), Johann Giese (Deportes Iquique), Hernan Rosenblum (Kublense), Christian Ogalde (Magallanes) and Leonardo Zuniga (Deportes Melipilla).
