On Tuesday afternoon, a helicopter fell into a reservoir while helping to combat a forest fire called “Los Canales” in the Valparaíso region.

According to preliminary information, the ship fell in the Lliulliu Reservoir, this in the middle of the works carried out to control the flames.

Also, both the pilot and the copilot of the helicopter they would have been unharmed despite the impact.

Regarding the forest fire, due to the emergency it is kept in Red Alert Marga Marga Province, measure that began during the day of this Monday, May 4.

In turn, the National Emergency Office (Onemi) specified that the incident has consumed -up to the moment- 600 hectares.

According to what was reported by Radio Bío Bío in the region, both the pilot and the co-pilot are in good condition.

According to Onemi’s regional director, Mauricio Bustos, both people are in good condition being attended by emergency personnel.

At the moment the causes of the accident is a matter of investigation.

So far, there are 600 hectares that are being consumed by the flames, without any affected houses, that are being fought by 14 air means, Conaf brigades, and firefighters from the Limache and Quilpué communes.
