Owners of Samsung’s flagship phone, Galaxy S20 Ultra, complain that their unit’s rear camera glass has been broken for no apparent reason.
Dozens of users have attended the official Samsung forums, according to the SamMobile portal.
The complaints appeared weeks after the device’s launch, which costs about $ 1,400. Most users claim that they are using good quality cases and that they did not drop the phone or hit the camera module against something causing the glass to break. But despite all the rear camera glass on their Galaxy S20 Ultra it broke on its own.
For some, the problem started with a very fine crack in the glass that limited the camera’s capacity. It continued to expand and further limit the zoom capabilities. Others noted that the glass in their units broke completely, leaving a huge hole.
Samsung considers this nothing more than cosmetic damage, and is therefore not covered by its standard phone warranties. Thus users have to pay for repair out of pocket.
Users also suggested that it is a design flaw, with some even asking the company to remove it from the market.
