Peru’s Congress promulgated this Thursday the law that allows workers to withdraw 25% of AFP funds.
This as a measure to face the negative economic effects generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Peruvian newspaper Gestión, the law was enacted after President Martín Vizcarra did not comment on the autograph, whose term expired on Wednesday.

“Congress has been waiting in a responsible way for the project to approve the withdrawal of 25% of AFP funds. On April 6, the handwritten letter was sent to the Executive, so the deadline for its enactment and observation was met at 12 o’clock yesterday night, “said the president of the Congress, Manuel Merino.
“However, once the term of the Executive has expired, it has not issued any observation nor has it published the law, therefore, in accordance with article 108 of the Political Constitution, this new Congress will proceed to promulgate the rule,” he said. .
It is worth mentioning that the project allows affiliates to withdraw 25% of their funds, the minimum amount being 4,300 soles (just over one million Chilean pesos) and the maximum 12,900 (about $ 3.2 million).
The delivery of funds will be made in two parts: first they will be able to withdraw 50% of their amount 10 days after presenting the request and the other 50% 30 days after the first withdrawal.
Meanwhile, workers who have less than 4,300 soles in their fund will be able to withdraw 100% of their capital at one time.
